Melody is the 7th child of 8 artistic siblings. Alone at 17, she took her first airplane flight from Dallas, Texas to Fairbanks, Alaska, chasing a dream life she saw in a movie. She's lived and raised her children in Fairbanks for the last 23 years; freezing and thawing with the seasons.

Melody and her husband Dennis built their house in Thorne Bay this year after owning and dreaming of their island property for 17 years. They came for the fishing, but they are staying for the people.
